DescriptionWe will be filling a Senior Business Analyst position on the BAR – Risk Management/Asset Protection team. This position will be responsible for providing recurring reporting, accounting and ad hoc analysis to the Risk & AP business areas. Additionally, the position will use Alteryx, Power BI and their knowledge of Risk and AP data sources to develop trend and cost modeling, insights and recommendations which allows for better decision-making.

Developing and delivering complex analyses, insights and recommendations that are regularly relied upon as significant input into final decision-making processes
Identifying opportunities and recommending actions to improve financial performance in operations, as well as ongoing projects which require an in-depth understanding of expenses to comprehend, calculate and communicate the potential impact of various changes and/or recommendations
Understanding, analyzing and interpreting expenses to alert BAR and Risk Management leadership of concerning trends
Using Assure Claims and other reporting tools to download claim data to display the latest trending and analysis on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc basis
Being a single point of contact for analytical reporting needs
Interacting and proactively sharing financial and operational results with the assigned business areas to assist them in understanding historical trends, designing improvements and measuring results of implemented improvements
Analyzing the impact of incremental changes in KPI performance at various levels, and further dissecting results based on financial, geographic, and other variables to determine locations that should be more successful in implementing a given initiative
Gathering and providing data requested by the BAR – Tax area related to the impact of actuarial reserves on Publix federal taxes
Compiling data into user-friendly reports using Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Power BI
Converting existing reports from Excel or MS Access to Power BI
Automating reporting using macros, VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) and M (Power Query) when needed, and
Periodic management of files and reports to minimize redundant or outdated files to include the corporate records retention process
Responsible for training BAR or business area associates as needed
This Includes
Participating in the consultation with project teams in discussions regarding the financial and business implications of various initiatives, gaining insights, providing financial expertise and facilitating decision-making
Developing an extensive understanding of risk management data sources such as claims data files, Assure Claims, Assure Claims Business Analytics, Alteryx, SAP, DB2, Executive Strategy Manager to develop enhanced data analytics
Developing into a financial SME for Power BI, which includes defining the requirements and queries for Risk Management to capture massive amounts of data that will provide analytics, modeling and reporting to generate insights on trends and allow for better decision-making and understanding of contributing factors that drive costs of workers’ compensation and insurance
Collaborating with IT, BAR consultants and suppliers to design, test and implement new or upgraded systems and reporting, such as Assure Claims and Power BI
Supporting future or existing Quality Decision Process (QDP) projects by participating in the analysis of initiatives, quantifying and tracking costs and benefits and preparing or updating financial summaries for review by senior management.
Researching and communicating transaction details as requested for Risk Management and Asset Protection
Responding to ad hoc requests for financial information

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics or another analytical discipline with at least 2 years relevant business experience or equivalent OR
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics or another analytical discipline. with at least 4 years relevant business OR
High School diploma with at least 6 years business experience or equivalent
Knowledge of Accounting and/ or Finance principles, general business practices and financial statements and business practices specific to Publix Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Proven strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects, including organizational skills, attention to detail and adherence to deadlines while ensuring accuracy

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics or another analytical discipline, or MBA with concentration in Accounting, Finance, Statistics or another analytical discipline
3 years relevant business experience
Professional certification(s) such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and/or Certified Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis Professional (FPAC)
Knowledge of SAP
Knowledge of Power BI
Knowledge of Alteryx, FINDSS and DB2 tables
Knowledge about major Publix systems, and the inter-relationships of those systems
Knowledge of major claims reporting systems
Willingness to be flexible and adapt quickly and efficiently to change

Year End BonusAs a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
