Optimum/Altice nothing but a bunch of liars and cheaters

Honestly, it doesn't matter what these lying cheating fraudulent scumbags tell you. ( Optimum) Whatever price they give you, it will just magically go up in a month or 2, and good luck getting your bill "corrected". I signed up for a Black Friday promotion. 1gb fiber internet, tv, and cloud DVR plus, for $165/mo (+ taxes, and includes autopay discount) GUARANTEED for 2yrs, with a $10 increase in year 3. Its in writing. I have multiple confirmation emails. That means nothing to them.
So, w/o autopay, the bill should be $171.77. That should be the bill, every month for 24 months, then $181.77 for the next 12 months. No if, ands, or buts. They got it right for exactly ONE (1) month! Next bill, they are trying to jack it up to $189! Already more then the year 3 price, on month 2.
Why? Well supposedly, a "change" made to my account. They forgot to provision with cloud DVR PLUS, and just gave me the standard dvr at first, even though I ordered and paid for the plus. So, them correcting THEIR mistake, = a change to my account?

Spent an hour+ on the phone with retention, they still could not get it through their heads. First one keeps doing the math wrong, arguing that my bill is correct. Then, they would do me a "favor" of a one time $20 credit, and lowering the bill $10 for the next 3 months ( off the WRONG amount)! Umm, what happened to my 2yr guarantee, + 3rd year at +$10? "Gee, sorry that promotion isn't in our system anymore" So, why is that my problem? Just fix it. Override the system, make something up, whatever. Not my problem how. Just make it right. Nope.

Then I speak to the most obnoxious supervisor ever, for about 5min. Her solution? Well, we can probably move some numbers around, get you some promotional credits good for a year ( again suppose to be 2yrs), and get CLOSE to the price. ( NOPE- close is not good enough). BUT, big problem.... " If we make a "change" to your account, you'll lose the $400 in gift cards that were part of the promotion" --- WHAT?!?!?!?! Again, NOT a a "change" I am making. This is Optimum fixing an Optimum mistake. How does robbing me of $400 "fix" my problem? "Gee sorry, gift cards are part of the sales dept. You'd have to see if they were willing to issue you the gift cards even though the promotion is no longer available" Again, how is any of this MY fault/problem? I'm not begging / asking for a "favor". I want what is promised/owed to me!

This is absolute insanity, and the sleaziest/scummiest/scammiest company on earth! How do think they can get away with violating a legally binding 3yr agreement/commitment just 1 month in? Why hasn't there been a massive class action lawsuit from all the people Optimum/Altice has STOLEN from over the years? Make no mistake, this is theft by deception, unjust enrichment, fraud, etc....

As soon as I finish watching the things on my DVR, I'm planning on cancelling. I can live without TV, and I'll have to make do with a 5G hotspot off my phone I guess, or whatever public wifi I can pick up. I'm fed up with this dirtbag company stealing from me!

Aren’t you the one that had questions about installation a few weeks ago? Most people questioned why you were asking about how it was installed? Some people considered you being a little crazy about things. Many people on here helped you out like myself and offered some pictures of our install due to your requests.

However, this is YOUR mistake. If you had just allowed the install tech in, this could have been resolved. If he or she didn’t have the right equipment on the roll out, the install would have been delayed. You would not have signed off on the install paperwork. When I had my installs done in the past, I always checked the work order before, during and after the work was performed. I made sure the order was completed to my satisfaction.

Please cancel your service. Ranting and raving here is going to do nothing. This is just a bunch of people who unfortunately have Altice service and no other alternatives. As a matter of fact, most on here recommend if you have an alternative provider like a telco, do it. It’s that simple.

Good luck buddy.

This has nothing to do with the physical self install. The work order was correct. The email confirmations I recvd all had the correct services/pricing.

This is 1st, a back end issue in not provisioning DVR PLUS, only the standard DVR. ( Likely not something the tech would have "caught" on install anyway. I only noticed AFTER recording a few things, and the amount of free space remaining being way too low)

and 2.) A billing/account issue. Again, not something having anything to do with the actual install.

You clearly had nothing constructive to add, so why bother? You're obviously stuck on judging me because I don't like strangers in my home. Get over it.

Who knows? Maybe an attorney, also fed up with Optimum, will see this and be motivated to gather enough plaintiffs for a class action? Probably not, but maybe. Or maybe someone has had similar experiences and figured out the "magic" words to say, or the right "secret" dept. to talk to ?

the only guarantee you will get with altice, is you getting screwed over.
back in the day when the Dolans owned optimum, you would have easily gotten your issue rectified.
it may be considered a lot of money but i pay $93.49 (NY price) for the base plan (cable internet) with the grandfathered upload speed of 35Mbit (100/35), i own the modem and i do NOT plan to make any changes to the plan or account, i dont ever plan to even call them for anything either.
unfortunately, hampton bays has no alternative comparable ISP, t-mobile has marginal signal though a rooftop parabolic antenna may improve the situation, it is still a double-NAT network unlike optimum and i cant have that (i use cisco VPN from the philippines to my modem to get past location restrictions.)
the same goes for starlink too (double-NAT), their monthly price is roughly the same as optimum anyway.
although altice fiber is available, i do not plan to subscribe simply because the price after promotions and discounts is above the price im currently paying.
it really does suck balloons when competition is little to non-existent, especially when the company you are paying for internet is a total sham.

Agree..if they want to move people to it they should make it cheaper. I guess if you're calling every year for a promo then it matters little which you have but the fact remains the mandatory rental will always make fiber cost more off promo. In my case they will not connect the fiber so even if I tell them I want to give them more money...they seem to not want it..I believe they think I am renting a modem and paying the same rate as fiber anyway..Im not. I wish them luck on their fiber but I surmise based on cost many won't switch based on off promo cost... doesnt help when some folks call and they are told no promos for fiber.. its like their building a network, advertising, and then not encouraging existing customers to switch to it. .. its like they want people to stay on coax.

in my case, i dont need the increased upload speed from fiber, 35Mbit is enough to transport data to the philippines for what i want to do.
there are a lot of websites and services from the US that do not work here, even using a third party VPN service doesnt help and i have tried many.
piping my optimum connection to here, does work, 100%, plus, it doesnt cost anything extra.
