Is the Victoria's Secret Credit Card Worth It?

The Victoria's Secret Credit Card is worth it for Victoria’s Secret shoppers who have fair credit or better. It has a $0 annual fee and gives 10 points per $1 spent on purchases, plus a $25 discount on your first purchase.

This card can support you in other ways, too. For example, you will earn a whopping 30 points per $1 spent on bra purchases, and you get free shipping on any Victoria’s Secret purchase of $50 or more. There’s a $10 reward on your birthday and a 15% discount after every cardmember anniversary, too. You can also get Victoria’s Secret VIP status after spending $750, which increases the amount of your rewards and benefits.

If you have good enough credit, you might even qualify for the Mastercard version of the Victoria's Secret Credit Card, which you can use anywhere. It offers rewards points on all purchases, with bonus points on dining, travel and streaming services. It also gives a $30 reward for spending $500 at merchants other than Victoria’s Secret in the first 90 days.

What You Need to Do to Make the Victoria's Secret Credit Card Worthwhile

To make the Victoria's Secret Credit Card worthwhile, you should pay your credit card bill in full by the due date each month. The card has a 32.24% (V) APR, so you don’t want expensive interest charges to outweigh the value of the rewards you get.

You should also make sure to take advantage of the first-purchase discount and free shipping. If you’re a big-spender, passing the threshold of $750 in purchases for a year is important, too. That gets you VIP status for the next year, increasing your rewards and benefits greatly. With VIP status, you get 15 points per $1 spent on most Victoria’s Secret purchases, 45 points per $1 on bras, a $15 birthday reward and a 20% discount after every cardmember anniversary.

Victoria’s Secret Credit Card Highlights

Up To 7.5% Back On Most Purchases

For the most part, you will earn 10 points for each $1 you charge to the Victoria's Secret Credit Card, with no cap on the number of points that you can earn. Every 2,000 points you earn is worth $10 in store credit, mailed to you in the form of a gift card within three to six weeks. That means every $1 you spend earns you $0.05 to $0.075 in credit, or 5% or 7.5% back, respectively. That is a wonderful earning rate, even for a store card.

Extra “Padding” On Bra Buys

The ability to effectively receive 15% off all bra purchases (including clearance and discounted bras), thanks to triple points in this category, is enough to make even the most beautiful Victoria’s Secret Angel drool. Add free shipping in the contiguous 48 states for online orders that include at least one non-clearance bra to the mix, and you’ve got yourself a bra bargain bonanza.

Nice Little Bonuses

Roughly $35 in first-year bonuses — $25 discount on your next purchase and $10 birthday gift — isn’t much, but it’s better than nothing and could certainly get you a nice clearance item.

No Annual Fee

You won’t have to feel guilty about adding the Victoria's Secret Credit Card to your wallet because it doesn’t charge an annual fee. That means this card can provide unadulterated savings if you pay your bill in full each month. For context, the average card charges $22.29, according to WalletHub’s latest Credit Card Landscape Report.

Requires Only “Fair” Credit For Approval

You can get the Victoria's Secret Credit Card even if you’ve yet to build much of a credit history. That means it can help you look great while also getting your credit score into better shape. If you don’t know where your credit stands, you can check it for free on WalletHub. WalletHub is the first and only site to offer free credit scores and full credit reports that are updated on a daily basis.

Victoria’s Secret Credit Card Lowlights

High Regular APR

The average credit card for people with fair credit has a 26.41% regular APR. The average store credit card charges 30.16%. But the Victoria's Secret Credit Card loses out to both, sporting a 32.24% (V) regular APR. To put this in terms of dollars and cents, a $300 balance paid over the course of a year, for example, would accrue roughly $43 in interest.

Rewards Expiration

The points that you earn will expire after one year or if you close your account or file for bankruptcy. Furthermore, Angel Rewards certificates expire after 90 days of issuance. So it’s best to get in the habit of quickly redeeming your earnings.

Other Things To Consider About the Victoria’s Secret Credit Card

Special Status

You get Victoria’s Secret “All Access” status just for owning the card. After spending $750+ in a calendar year, you can earn “VIP” status for the next year, which provides improved benefits, as you can see from the following table.

Can Be Used At Bath & Body Works

Although it’s a store card, the Victoria's Secret Credit Card isn’t restricted to Victoria’s Secret purchases. It can also be used at Bath & Body Works, though such purchases will not earn rewards.

“Forgotten Card” Convenience

If you find yourself wanting to make a Victoria’s Secret purchase when you don’t have your Victoria’s Secret Card on you, don’t worry. As long as you have ID, customer service will be able to locate your account and you will be free to shop.

100Point Rating System

75,000Data Points Tracked

This Victoria's Secret Credit Card review is based on WalletHub’s proprietary 100-point credit card rating system. By using a consistent methodology to evaluate the Victoria's Secret Credit Card and all other cards, WalletHub’s credit card experts make it easy for people to compare their options and find the best credit cards for their needs.

The WalletHub rating system uses 16 key metrics grouped into seven categories: Fees, Rewards, Two-year Cost, Interest Rates, Approval Requirements, Special Features, and Reviews. Each metric has a maximum number of points allocated to it, based on the metric’s importance as determined by our editors. The points are added up to create an overall rating for the Victoria's Secret Credit Card out of a maximum of 100 points, which is then converted to a 5-point scale.

Ratings for each category reflect how close Victoria's Secret Credit Card is to WalletHub’s definition of a 5-star credit card, which is based on market conditions and what we believe are reasonable terms. We compare Victoria's Secret Credit Card to that standard to give a numerical approximation of how reasonable and competitive its terms are compared to other cards.
